ASL Classes 1 - 5
DHHC offers ASL sign language classes in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs/Naples, Lehigh Acres, Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda and online by Zoom technology. Our agency uses "Signing Naturally" curriculum, designed to introduce you to American Sign Language (ASL); to aid in communication with the Deaf and hard of hearing community, and to educate those who may be losing their hearing.
Classes are $75.00 for a 5 week course. There are 5 ASL courses/levels in all. You must be registered to attend a class. Please choose your class below and click to register. You may also purchase all 5 courses at once and receive a 10% discount over the course of the classes. Each course will receive a certificate of completion and ASL 5 will have a "graduation" to celebrate the completion of all 5 levels.
There is a 10% processing fee for refunds (refunds are only if you have not attended any classes). If you choose to pay by cash or check, you must come into the office and pay no later than 24 hours prior to the beginning of the first day of class.
There must be at least 4 paid students registered or the class will be scheduled for a later date. You will receive an email before the class begins.
This program is not designed to certify those who are interested in becoming sign language interpreters.

ASL Family Class
Our ASL Family class is designed exclusively for parents and family members with deaf or hard of hearing (HOH) school-aged children. Led by our experienced Deaf Mentor, this weekly class focuses on teaching American Sign Language (ASL) signs that are used in everyday life. We encourage the entire family, including extended family members, to attend and participate.
Class Details:
- Duration: 1 hour
- Cost: Free for all family members
The primary goal of the ASL Family class is to enhance communication within families and empower those with deaf children. Additionally, we offer a separate, free Parent Support Group to provide further resources and community support.

Nonverbal ASL Class
Designed specifically for nonverbal individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), this class teaches functional sign language skills to support communication, expression, and daily interactions to enhance connection and understanding.
Sign Language Classes are 12 week segments (1 class per week). Classes will be held in person at the Sally J. Pimentel Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center located at 1860 Boy Scout Drive Suite B208 Fort Myers, FL 33907.
If you wish to pay by cash or check you must do so at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of the first class.
All classes must be paid for at the time of registration. If you should have to cancel prior to the 1st day of class a 10% processing fee will be deducted from your refund. No refunds will be given once class has begun.
If we do not have at least 4 paid students registered, the class will be rescheduled to a later date. You will receive an email.
These classes are completely FREE to nonverbal students and $125 per attending family member.

This FREE class is for families with deaf/HOH school-aged children. This class is designed to help parents learn enough basic ASL to understand their child's needs and to teach families about Deaf Culture. Class time is focused on Siblings and other family members are encouraged to come as well. Children will focus on learning basic ASL, as well as playing games and learning to interact with their siblings through ASL. This class is free and occurs every other Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the school year.
